The above photo is of the renowned Dr. Benjamin Carson signing autographs.
If you know about his early life, then you will know something about what happens to the kids in my program. If you don't know who Ben Carson is, then this is your first homework assignment: Go look him up! Read his auto biography "Gifted Hands".
My name is John C. Forbes. I am the founder and chief instructor at the Renaissance Institute of Scholastic Excellence (RISE).
I have educated every kind of studentfrom preschooler to college grad, from the mildly retarded to the sublimely gifted, from the children of politicians to the children of the rich and famous.
At the Renaissance Institute of Scholastic excellence, no child can sit before me and be confused for long. My teaching skills have been honed in the fires of struggle and hard work.
I have students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade who could move right into a high school algebra class tomorrow and hold forth with even the Chinese students!
My preschoolers learn how to read, write, add, subtract and multiply before starting kindergarten or first grade.
The RISE Curriculum
The curriculum at RISE is built around a core of excellence that I have honed over the years. The focus of my program is on equipping my students with a body of skills and knowledge that will give them the aptitude to learn, and master, any academic challenge they meet in school and life.
Prep schools and colleges use aptitude tests to measure the aptitude or learning fitness of applicantsnot just specific academic knowledge. It tests a students ability to reason using math and verbal skills.
People who reason well learn quickly. They are more apt to master the world of school and career than those who dont reason well and have poor academic skills. Aptitude is defined as an ability to learn or develop proficiency in some particular area if appropriate education or training is provided.
High learning aptitude can be developed when children are masterfully trained and educated. My teaching strategy is designed to produce high learning aptitude in my students. I custom fit my teaching to fit the needs of my students. I dont care how far behind they are academically when they begin my program. They will become scholars under my instructionif their parents allow me the time required to bring them to permanent excellence.
Because I am a past master at what I do, my long term students reach high academic and intellectual levels and they develop the high aptitude needed to master any learning and career objective. My program serves human beings from age 3 to 103.
My curriculum is masterfully crafted, skillfully taught and thoroughly learned by my students. My students score very high on every aptitude test they need to take, which allows them to gain entry to any top school of their choice.
Math Instruction
Math instruction at RISE deploys through a seamless curriculum, expertly taught, that flows from the basics taught to 3 year-olds up to and through 2 semesters of college calculus. When a child begins instruction in my program in the early grades, most reach levels 3 to 6 grades ahead of their peers by 6th grade. By high school, they are prepared to master the most rigorous curriculum and when they are ready for college, they can pick and choose any college they want to attend and gain admissionoften on full scholarships. Mathematics mastery opens up all academic and career options for them.
Out of my program has come an architect, a math teacher, a science teacher, an advertising executive, a doctor, an electronics technician, to name some of the career paths my former students have taken. These career options would not have been open to them were it not for the high level of math instruction begun at RISE and the acquired aptitude for learning that evolved out of their math instruction.
Reading Instruction
My reading and reasoning curriculum also range from preschool through college level. The students of my most disciplined and intelligent parents soar years ahead of their peers. My students are taught how to read critically. They learn how to spot bias and other forms of written and verbal manipulation. I teach my students how to reason inferentially so that they can go deep and read between the lines. Children who learn to read well do more reading. The more disciplined and intelligent a parent is the less likely that parent is to let her kids vegetate on garbage. Good parents compel their children to become voracious readers and learners.
Writing Instruction
My writing program logically flows out of my reading and reasoning program. It is much easier to teach children the principles of effective writing if they are steeped in effective writing through reading lots of good books. The curriculum covers everything from basic pencil and paper penmanship exercises for preschoolers to writing essays and research papers for the college bound.
Black children, raised by wise and loving mothers, generally become talented and well adjusted adults
Wise Mothers Are Worth Their Weight In God's Blessings
I have seen the best of what happens to our kids, when in the hands of wise parents especially wise mothers. Wise mothers are worth their weight in Gods gold. They know what their kids need in the way of a 21st Century education.
Unfortunately wise mothers are in the extreme minority and their numbers continue to shrink. Bad mothers, on the other hand, are legion in the black community. You know them by their kids, who are disrespectful, have zero home training, and run wild in school and in the streets.
They let their children feed on the poison of too much video gaming and too much TV. Most are without a clue as to what their teenagers are up to in their bedrooms, as they addict themselves to excessive sexting and texting with Sally, Boo and the perverts too--way into the wee hours of the night.
All the while, mom is hibernating in her bedroom asleep and in a deep coma, knocked out and oblivious.
What do wise mothers know that the bad ones don't want to know?
Wise black mothers know that only children who are well educated with 21st Century skills will do well in today's world. Good math skills are as important to their children's future well-being as good health. Wise black mothers know that poor math skills bar more Negroes from careers that require critical reasoning skills than any other subject.
Most black kids, by age 18, are barely literate. For those who enroll in any of the many We-take-anybody colleges, they still come out poorly educated, with and unemployment rate twice that of white grads, who themselves are catching unemployment Hell, as they move back home with mom and dad.
Wise mothers know that math must be taught by a skilled and competent teacher up to and beyond trigonometry. They know that its mastery develops logic and problem solving ability in all areas. Physics and chemistry cannot be mastered without it.
According to the NAEP, only 6 percent of black 12th graders are proficient beyond the grammar school level. Add the dropouts to this mixed bag and only 3% of black kids achieve high school level mastery.
Black children fall into roughly 3 categories: the brilliant 1%, the intelligent 9% and the backward 90%. Bad mothers of the backward 90 have no clue as to how far behind their kids really are and they don't want to know!
Wise mothers know that in this economy, there are no more affirmative action jobs to dole out to Negroes. Black kids in general, by every measure of success or failure, be it by IQ or by standardized testing, fall in dead last behind every other racial and ethnic group on earth..
They will not be fit for even low skill jobs like floor mopping, toilet scrubbing or cotton picking. Those jobs will go to the hard working illegal aliens, who bring a solid work ethic across the border with them. For Jose (a real person who maintains my yard), yesterday it was the mop and bucket; today its the rake and the leaf blower, and his own flourishing lawn business.
Bad mothers wind up usually supporting their unemployable children for the rest of their life. Bad mothers will work; their adult kids will eat. Bad mothers will pay the bills; their adult kids will play the X Box. Don't be believe me; believe what you see with your own eyes.
W.E. Dubois once said, over a century ago, that: The Negro race, like all races, is going to be saved by its exceptional men. The problem of education, then, among Negroes must first of all deal with the Talented Tenth; it is the problem of developing the Best of this race that they may guide the Mass away from the contamination and death of the Worst (September 1903).
The majority of bad mothers have embraced the contamination and death of the worst with vigor and attitude.
Most millennial era black children are less intelligent, less articulate, less vigorous, less moral, less honorable and less able to reason, than at the time the slaves were set free. Bad mothers let their kids spew nonsense, embrace stupidity and display vulgarity in public as though such displays of depravity were the apex something to be proud of.
Marcus Garvey said almost one hundred years ago: Sloth, neglect, indifference caused us to be slaves. Confidence, conviction, action will cause us to be free men today, (Circa 1920).
Self imposed ignorance is the worse form of slavery, for who can save a fool who chooses to be a slave? The negative traits Garvey mentioned above are more entrenched in black kids and in their parents, than ever before.
Its almost a century later and this generation of the lost is still to be found leaping, prancing, and gibbering like baboons, doing each other in alleyways, on school buses, behind trees and in stairwells, like crazed hyenas in heat.
The Renaissance Institute is an effective antidote to, and an oasis from, the evil and insanity running amuck in the hood.
